PERFORMER PROFILES
Starting in high school in Pratt, Kansas; Rayne began writing raps which eventually came to the attention of fellow native rappers: Chief Rock, Lady $hort & Supaman. For a period of time they would be known collectively as "Da Wolfpac". It was at this time that Rayne developed a true passion for the art of hip hop.
Raised in both rural Kansas and inner-city Regina, SK; Rayne uses this unique background in writing music by being able to address both midwestern lifestyles as well as of the inner-city. He is also known for integrating spanish in his verses on occasion. A known personality on Regina's battle scene; it was here that Rayne quickly became known for his unique style.
Rayne is a member of the Keeseekoose First Nation in Saskatchewan.
Kracka Jack has been an active DJ and promoter of the local hip hop and reggae music scene since the early 1990s. In fact he is considered by many in Saskatchewan as the “Godfather” of the local 306 hip hop community because of his long standing as a promoter and supporter of the culture and its music. Like many DJs before him though, as his appreciation and knowledge grew, he found himself not only promoting hip hop music and culture but roots reggae, dancehall , soul, funk and all urban music and has sought to bring attention to all of these musical art forms to the massives for many years and continues to show his love for them all.
Kracka Jack has opened and performed alongside many local, national and international hip hop, reggae and soul groups. Ill Logikal founded RN in 2000 and has led it to great success. He began producing after attending college for music technology. And at the time, he was the first Aboriginal person to take such a program in Alberta. Like his father before him, he has blazed a trail in music which many have followed.
He has gone on to produce several award-nominated albums and has contributed production to other Aboriginal artists, elevating them to success - largely due to his production skills. In 2006 & 2007 he was nominated for "Best Producer" at the Aboriginal Peoples Choice Music Awards and in 2008 was nominated for "Alberta Business Award of Distinction" for Youth Entrepreneurs.
He currently freelances for the Alberta Foundation for the Arts as a Mentor in their "Future Leaders" program in Northern Alberta (Aboriginal) communities.
He is a member of the Bigstone Cree Nation in northern Alberta, but was raised on Sucker Creek First Nation. His family has very deep roots in the Lesser Slave Lake area.
